Inspiration for the Quest Theater Book Cover

Because I wanted to avoid giving any characters ‘faces’ on the cover of the book, I decided it would be fun to work with silhouettes. Not only do they add to the mystery of what the characters look like, but something about them adds a feeling of anticipation. Knowing that I wanted to use silhouettes, I did a search online and spent some time looking for inspiration. When I came across the little, pixelated graphic of the dancing ballerinas, I knew I wanted to incorporate the idea of marionette strings! And who else, but Grandpa, could hold the strings? After all, he’s the one who also holds all of the secrets that the other characters are seeking. Though, as he finds out, it’s the others who hold the answers to the puzzle he’s trying to solve.
